The precise sequence of eras is as follows:
* The construction of the Sphinx, Columbus' voyage, World War One, the Ice
Age, the Cretaceous Period, the time of the Arabian Nights, 2566, and
Atlantis. There doesn't appear to be a time warp between Atlantis and the
vault containing Ransik's brain, I'm curious if he's using the area as some
sort of staging ground. If anyone else happens to be going on the ride in the
near future, would they be a luv and get me the precise date for the Atlantis
segment, thanks? It's in the lower left hand corner.
Some general corrections and observations I missed on the first time through:
* Trip vomited, not Lucas. It's *really* hard to tell, the sound effects kind
of muddle the voice, but it sounds much more like Kleinberg than Copon, to me.
* The dinosaur segment is surprisingly extensive, including a prehistoric bug
attack prior to the encounter with the tyrannosaurus. You plummet into water,
not lava; my bad there, and get to watch a school of some sort of small fish
evade what looks like a type of electric eel. And one unlucky fish fail.
* Katie hates bugs
* Eric does not assist the others in the fireball/"Raiders of the Lost Ark"
sequence (which, oddly, does occur in the future, prior to the Death Star
rip-off sequence), though he does appear immediately after, as the Rangers
are flying through catacombs. This whole era, like the Cretaceous segment, is
surprisingly lengthy, with multiple area changes.
* The Time Blaster has heat shields. It is also clearly shown to be
Timeship-class; the vehicle is visible behind Eric and the TF Eagle in a new
US sequence.
* Ransik and Nadira exchange a nervous, stock footage glance as the PRTF and
Eric try to unlock the vault doors protecting Ransik's brain. The sheer
implausibility of this sequence is delightfully MMPR-esque. I mean- he has a
VAULT, from all apparent evidence hidden in the South China Sea, containing
his MUTANT BRAIN.
* The Time Blaster has a 3:10 time limit, from launch. Counting the brief
period before the time travel part begins, I'd peg the entire ride at about
three minutes, thirty seconds. ("Ready? Time For- TIME FORCE!")
It did my heart good, attending the second day of the Time Tour. Maybe I'd
just hit Northtown at a lull, but Rosedale was so much more active when we
arrived. Legions of excited little kids lined up around the truck. I think
what stuck out with me, the most... Four little six-year-olds, accompanied by
one of their mother's, all wearing PR shirts from various eras of the series.
MMPR, PRLG, PRLR, and PRTF. The kids were all so excited, and the mom just
HAD to take a picture with the lot of them posing in front of the giant
Quantum Ranger painted on the ride... It reminded me how much PR still means
to children. I later noticed, climbing aboard the simulator, that all of them
had gotten their shirts autographed by the Quantum Ranger actor going around
with the tour.
(he was a no-show when I arrived, suppose he was inside the store... It was
hotter than hell, and spandex is a great conductor for heat. Especially when
you can't ever take the helmet off, lest a kid realize that ISN'T really Eric
there...)
Since the speakers outside perpetually blare out the PRTF theme on an almost
unending cycle (Jen was saying something as I got out of the car, but by the
time we were in line it had gone back to the theme song again), I had to ask
one of the ride attendants while I had the chance- was he absolutely sick of
that song yet? He just smiled. "I don't even hear it anymore." I envy that
man. Eight minutes outside, over the span of two days, and I officially hate
the PRTF theme.
